The Munsters 50th Anniversary, The Endless Summer 50th Anniversary, Police Woman 40thAnniversary
(Sherman Oaks, CA – October 7, 2014) – The 24th Annual Sherman Oaks Street Fair—the largest event in the San Fernando Valley—is scheduled for Sunday, October 19 from 10am to 7pm. Located on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks, California, the fair stretches 9 blocks from Van Nuys Blvd. to Kester Blvd. Admission is free and up to 100,000 people are expected this year.
Billed as a celebration of Southern California heritage and culture, the fair features over 100 vendors and displays, food courts, a beer, wine, and cocktail garden, a classic car and hot rod show, antique fire trucks from the LAFD Historical Society, a special appearance by the Bob Hope USO, carnival rides, a Kids Zone, raffle prizes, and more.
This year’s Street Fair will feature a major concert stage with four classic acts, including the original Strawberry Alarm Clock who had the number one hit in the U.S. in 1967 with “Incense and Peppermints.” Wild Child will perform their world-renowned recreation of Jim Morrison and The Doors while Paperback Writer will celebrate the Beatles from Ed Sullivan to Sgt. Peppers to Abbey Road. Cutty Flam will open the concert with a mix of rockabilly and 1950s B-movie soundtracks.
The 50th Anniversary of the landmark surf movie The Endless Summer will be celebrated with a major exhibit and special appearances by the film’s stars, Mike Hynson and Robert August. The TV show The Munsters will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their 1964 premiere with original cast member BUTCH PATRICK (Eddie Munster) and the legendary King of Kustomizers George Barris and his original 1964 MUNSTERS KOACH.
Other ceremonies and exhibits include and the 40th Anniversary of POLICE WOMAN with series star Charles Dierkop. MY THREE SONS stars Stanley Livingston and Tina Cole will sign photos, and Dave Mason of K-EARTH 101 will be the stage’s master of ceremonies.
