SHACC and Bruce Brown Films to Create an Exhibition for the 50th Anniversary of “The Endless Summer”

Surfing Heritage and Culture Center (SHACC) is teaming up with Bruce Brown Films to kick off the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the iconic film, The Endless Summer, at Surf Expo, January 9-11, 2014 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando Florida.

“We’re very excited to be working with Bruce Brown Films to create an exhibition that celebrates the 50th Anniversary of The Endless Summer,” said SHACC’s Executive Director, Paul Strauch. “This is the documentary surf film that inspired surfers to start traveling the world in search of the perfect wave.”

The 50th anniversary celebration will kick off on the opening night of Surf Expo, the largest boardsports and beach/resort lifestyle trade show in the world, with an exclusive screening of The Endless Summer featuring live commentary from the movie’s director, Bruce Brown and stars, Robert August and Mike Hynson. Robert “Wingnut” Weaver, star of The Endless Summer II, will host the special movie-screening, tribute event. All Surf Expo exhibitors and attendees are welcome to attend.

The Endless Summer Exhibition at Surf Expo will feature a curated collection of historic photos and memorabilia, including the actual camera and tripod used to shoot the film, original movie flyers, posters, letters, and other items never seen publicly. SHACC will unveil the complete Endless Summer Exhibition on May 3, 2014 during a special gala event at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach, California. The exhibition will then be moved to SHACC where it will be on display before embarking upon an international tour.
